LRHS FFA invites community fair participation

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS FFA is encouraging everyone in the Mustang community to attend the Manatee County Fair judging competitions during the month of January.

Agriscience and Horticulture teacher Janyel Smith says, “Competitors have worked hard this year and are extremely excited to display their knowledge and skills.”

Competitions are based on showmanship or overall show events. Anyone bidding on plants, pigs, or steers is encouraged to attend the sale days.

Tuesday is the Swine Showmanship 6 p.m. at Mosaic Arena, and the Dairy Fitting and Grooming Contest from 7-8 p.m..

Wednesday is the Dairy Showmanship at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena. Thursday is the Rabbit Judging in Powell Building and the Swine Show at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena.

Friday is the Rabbit Showmanship Show in Cook Arena and the Dairy Show at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena.

Saturday is the Swine Sale at 2 p.m. in Mosaic Arena and the Dairy Heifer Sale immediately following sale in Mosaic Arena, as well as the Florida Nursery and Growers Association (FNGLA) Plant Show & Sale also at the Mosaic Arena following the Swine and Dairy sales.

More events are scheduled for next week. Monday is when competition dogs will meet at 10 a.m. in the Entertainment Tent, and the Dog Show will take place at noon also in the Entertainment Tent, while competing poultry will gather from 5-7 p.m. in Powell Building.

Tuesday is the Goat Show at 6 p.m. in Cook Arena, with Poultry Judging following in Powell Building.

Wednesday is the Steer Showmanship at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena.

Thursday is the Steer Show at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena. Friday is the Heifer Show and Showmanship at 6 p.m. in Mosaic Arena, with the Poultry Showmanship Show following in Cook Arena.

Saturday is the Steer Sale at 2 p.m. in Mosaic Arena.

Sunday horses will check in at 10:00 a.m. and the Horse Show will take place at noon.
