LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL – The LRHS boys and girls basketball teams have both been dominating the courts this past month.
Dominating…as in single players outscoring entire teams.
Dominating…as in doubling the opponent’s score by halftime.
Dominating…as in why not leave at the end of the third quarter?
On Dec. 16, 2014 the boys stampeded the Imagine School at North Port with a score of 72-9.
Sophomores Devon Twenty and Kody Elliot, and senior Cameron Darby each outscored their opponent.
Twenty had five three-pointers, stampeding the Imagine team.
Darby and Elliot each scored 10 to humiliate the Sharks.
Imagine turned the ball over 35 times.
In an attempt to put them out of their misery a running clock was started in the second quarter. This usually isn’t allowed until the second half.
The Lady Mustangs are also running teams up and down the court, beating Braden River 55-10 on Jan. 9, 2015.
This win came despite missing their leading scorer, sophomore LaDazhia Williams.
Junior Elise Spiller was one basket shy of doubling the Pirate’s score, scoring 18 points. Spiller outperformed all of the Pirates combined.
Junior Kailyn Scully and sophomores Aleah Robinson and Rachel Goff each drained nine points, shocking Braden River.
