(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS junior point guard Kailyn Scully won the Sarasota Herald-Tribune’s Player of the Week title for the week ending Dec 6, 2014.
Scully’s stats reflect her handwork. The Lady Mustangs took on Braden River on Dec. 4 and Scully scored 16 points had 10 rebounds. She also had an impressive game on Dec. 6; she was the lead scorer with 19 points against Sarasota Christian.
“I have lots of support from my family, friends, teammates, and coach and they’re the real reason why I play the way I play. They are what sets me apart from the other nominees,” Scully explained.
“I feel like this year I’ve stepped up on the offensive end because we lost one of our lead scorers,” said Scully.
Ten high school athletes are nominated by the Herald Tribune each week for the coveted award. The names are posted on the HT Preps website for one week as website viewers cast their vote.
Mustang Head Girls Basketball Coach Tina Hadley said, “It is a well deserved honor. She works really hard.
“It was no surprise to me that Kailyn was voted Player of the Week; she is my player of the week every week,” said Hadley.
