(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Ranch Academic Team finished 3rd out of 16 Manatee County teams at their final competition at Braden River High School Dec. 11.

This season for the LRHS Academic Team was full of ups and downs, but the Mustangs finished strong. The only two teams to top the Mustangs were St. Stephens and Southeast.

“The competition was good and the whole season went really well. You can never really prepare for the questions, you can only work on strategy, and in the end we represented our school well,” said junior Dominick Reynoso.

The top participants from Manatee County competitions form a district team that competes for a state championship. Unfortunately, no members from the LRHS team made the district team. Prior to Thursday’s competition, there were several LRHS members close to qualifying, but they were narrowly beaten out by a student from St. Stephens and a student from Southeast.

Sophomore Hannah Reynolds said, “Doing A-Team my sophomore year was a really good experience and I will definitely do it again next year.”
