Mustangs look forward to Rays’ new field boss

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – After the popular manager Joe Maddon parted ways with the Rays this fall, Tampa Bay has weighed many options on the subject of replacing him. With names like Dave Martinez and Manny Acta having been waved around, it may come as a bit of a surprise that they went with former MLB catcher Kevin Cash.

“I didn’t even know it happened honestly,” claimed LRHS freshman Elijah Miller.
The news of a new field manager might have been somewhat overshadowed by the news of a possible stadium relocation.

“I hope it’s going to pay off,” says Sophomore Trace, a long time Rays fan who asked that his last name not be used and who has weathered the storm that has been the Rays mediocrity for the past decade. Just like Trace, many fans are felling hopeful about Cash.

“I don’t know much about the new guy. He seems promising,” said Michael, a junior who didn’t give his last name. Michael says he isn’t much of a Rays fan, but the new management is still interesting.

“It will be fun to see how it plays out. I think a former player as a manager is a good thing because he can relate to the players better,” said senior Connor Upton.
