Mustangs React – Orion will take man into deep space

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS is watching the future that will bring mankind further into space. On Dec. 5, NASA launched the Orion flight.

NASA’s website says the Orion spacecraft is built to take humans farther than they’ve ever gone before. Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during the space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities.

“I really didn’t know that anything was being launched into space. I feel like this kind of news should be announced more so that everyone is aware,” explained sophomore Jessica Roberts.

Even though many students are not aware of what is to come later, some people show interest and opinions on the launch.

“I was very interested but I had a feeling it wouldn’t work. I feel like they tried to put the idea into action too soon,” said junior Shayna Morelli.

The Orion flight test was done to see if it would be capable of sending humans to deep space destinations such as Mars.

“I thought it was cool but it doesn’t really affect me, so why should i be worried? I think it will be more interesting in the future when we can actually get data back,” said senior Natalie Earp.
