(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Two-and-a-half minutes is all the time cheerleaders have to show off their months of hard work. It all comes down to one performance. One chance.
LRHS sophomore Karlyn Hanson had her chance to leave everything she had out on the mat at the April 19 U.S. All Star Federation Cheerleading Worlds. It was a chance she was happy to take, as she and her team finished second overall.
Hanson, a member of the Brandon All Stars Senior Black Cheerleading squad, said, “Obviously first is ideal but I couldn’t have been happier because we worked so hard.”
The first place California All Stars took home are two-time defending world champions in the Level 5 Small Coed Division, so Hanson said finishing second definitely was not bad.
“All of our hard work since May of last year finally paid off,” Hanson said.
This was Hanson’s second season of cheering with Brandon All Stars, but she is no stranger to the cheer world. She has cheered for nearly six years and has put many hours of time into her work. She is on the LRHS varsity cheer team.
This competition was by far the best reward she could ever ask for.
“It was the best experience I’ve ever had in my life. It was such a great opportunity and I loved every minute of it,” Hanson explained.
Brandon Senior Black was one stunt away from a perfect routine and next year plans to be back stronger than ever with hopes to take home the world champion rings. Hanson says next year is definitely the year to follow the team’s slogan and, “Bet on Black.”
