(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Mustangs said good-bye to the end of a successful year for the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter May 6 in the LRHS cafeteria. Awards, laughs and hugs were given to celebrate the club’s accomplishments.
LRHS FFA Adviser Susan Grainger said, “It went really well, we had more people than we had over the past three years. Over 300 people came.”
Many awards were given including 39 Greenhand degrees and eleven Chapter degrees. Freshman Emily Chamness was awarded Star Greenhand and sophomore Alyssa Riggio was awarded Star Chapter Farmer.
Sophomore Emily Menno earned her Greenhand degree and said, “It felt great receiving my awards and accomplishing all my goals that I worked hard for this year.”
The banquet also announced the upcoming officers for the 2014-15 school year. They include…

- Vice President as sophomore Alyssa Riggio
- Chaplain will be freshman Zoe Soler
- Parliamentarian was announced as freshman Hailey Barneo
- Historian as sophomore Beth Ciemniecki
- Membership Coordinator as sophomore David Barton
- Student Advisor will be sophomore Kasey Ray
- Reporter as freshman Emily Chamness
- Sentinel as freshman Carly Patterson
- Treasurer as junior Ty Knight
- Secretary will be junior Taylor Tharpe
Grade Point Average (GPA) awards were given to each grade level. Freshman Jimmy Ferrence achieved a GPA of 4.14. Sophomore Sofia Lanza had a GPA of 4.16. Junior Erynn Baxley was awarded with a GPA of 4.43. Senior Jordan Pascuzzi was awarded with a GPA of 3.87. The overall GPA award was given to Baxley.
