(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the school year comes to a close students reflect on all they have accomplished during the school year and the progress made. This applies in the classroom, and in the LRHS barn as well.
LRHS Future Farmers of America (FFA) members will host their end of the year banquet on Tuesday, May 6 in the LRHS cafeteria.
The banquet will review all the club achievements as well as individual member achievements of 2013-14. Outstanding students will receive their annual awards, including their green-hand and chapter degrees.
Students will also be recognized for their achievements and interaction this year with the group’s largest activity, the Manatee County Fair, and other competitions Mustangs competed in.
Next school year’s president and other officers will also be announced at the banquet.
LRHS FFA sponsor Susan Grainger said, “This is a great way for everyone to just celebrate everything we’ve done this year.”
Girls are expected to be in FFA official dress, or as close as possible. This includes a black knee-length skirt, white button down shirt, FFA official jacket, FFA official tie and black hosiery for ladies.
Men are expected to wear black pants, white button down shirt, official FFA jacket and official FFA tie.
Board directors, a group of off-campus advisers, will also be present at the banquet to help hand out awards to students and celebrate the end of an excellent year.
The LRHS FFA Alumni, the club’s parents’ organization, will pay for the food, including BBQ and side dishes for all the students and their present family members.
“Students need to get back with me as soon as possible about how many are coming in their party,” said Grainger. “The Alumni are paying for this out of pocket and we don’t want to over buy and have the money and food both go to waste.”
