(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – An LRHS junior is practicing her wave since she claimed the title of Miss Southwest Florida Outstanding Teen. Sammy Hyatt won the prize in Naples Feb. 16.
Hyatt has been competing in pageants her whole life but this is the first title she has won and is excited to be part of such a large organization.
Hyatt said, “The overall experience was very fulfilling for me and it was such a big deal its still hard to believe.”
Hyatt had to go through five levels of competition including an interview in front of five judges, talent, on stage question, fitness wear and finished the competition in evening gowns.
Hyatt, a member of the LRHS color guard, performed a flag routine for her talent. Hyatt learned the routine only a week before the pageant but was very excited to perform.
The weeks leading up to the pageant were filled with preparing for the pageant. It meant loads of paper work, ordering dresses and preparing for her interview and her on stage topic – encouraging kids to read. Reading is one of Hyatt’s passions.
Now that Hyatt has won the title of Miss Southwest Florida Outstanding Teen, she will compete in the Miss Florida Outstanding Teen Pageant in June, a weekend-long event in St. Petersburg. She hopes continue on to compete for the Miss America Outstanding Teen title.
Hyatt will appear at community events, mostly located in Naples. Her image will be captured by the personal photographer assigned to her for the next year.
Hyatt said, “It was such an exciting experience and I am so excited to continue on. To be part of such a big organization, and it being my first title that I’ve won is a really big accomplishment for me and I cant wait to see where it takes me.”
