(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS students saddled up for the 2014 Sadie Hawkins dance last Friday.
The Student Government Association (SGA) decorated the area between the cafeteria and auditorium in a western style theme and rounded up the students for a night to remember.
Students weren’t the only ones who befitted from the night. Funds were raised for Matt Baar, an LRHS sophomore diagnosed with cancer. Students and SGA members have been doing whatever they can to help his family pay medical bills. Eighty tickets were sold for five dollars each, raising around $400.
Students seemed to enjoy the night. Junior Cameron Darby said,”I had a great time spending time with my girlfriend and all my friends, and just happy to be raising money for Matt”.
SGA adviser Kent Renquist said,”It was a success for being the first year we’ve ever tried this.We liked the turnout but next year we are going to make it a much bigger event.”
