Mustang winter teams still winning

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS tremendous winter sports season is still under way. The Mustangs soccer teams are both regional champions. The Girls Basketball team is the district runner up.

For the first time in school history the Mustangs boys soccer team has made it to the state tournament. They beat Seminole High School in an exciting 5-3 game. The boys will play Melbourne High School at Melbourne Friday, Feb. 14 at 12:30p .m.

“I’m really proud of my team and exciting to be going to states for the first time. I really believe we can win the state title,” said junior Jake Dube.

LRHS girls basketball will play in the Regional semi final game 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11 against Sarasota at Sarasota High school. If they win they will go on to compete for the Regional title Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at home.

For the second year in a row the Lady Mustangs soccer team reached the state semi finals, and both years they were defeated by Melbourne High School. The Lady Mustangs had an undefeated season going into the State Tournament.

“It has been a really great season and I’m so proud of my team. I can’t believe that it was my last high school soccer game but I’m happy with all I’ve achieved in my four years,” said Senior Alex Latham.
