(BRADENTON, FL) – Some people think Latin is a dead language. The LRHS Latin Club disagrees.
The 2013-14 Latin Mustangs participated in the Region 7 Latin Forum in Tampa last weekend. They came home with an overall forth place finish, as well as a tie for second place in Academics and 31 individual awards.
LRHS Latin teacher Anya Grady said, “Our team did fantastic. Lakewood Ranch is the only public school in Manatee County that teaches Latin, yet we were still able to perform extremely well.”
Lakewood Ranch students Gabrielle Aleppo, Vincent Franco, and Nick Schoenberger each received a fist place medal in their competition categories. The next stop for the Latin Club is the state competition which will be held in early April in Orlando.
