Mustang technology students get real life challenges

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – New architectural models have been donated to the LRHS Technology Education Department by local socialite Renee Hamad.

LRHS Technology teacher Greg McGrew takes delivery of a new architectural model.

They can be viewed in the hallway of the 400 building.

One of the models is based on the downtown Sarasota development “Marquee En Ville.”

Technology Education teacher Greg McGrew says, “It’s neat that students can compare the model to the actual real live building.  Engineering students can now see physical products of architectural design.”

Hamad said she was thrilled to donate the models. The buildings were constructed by her late husband, local developer Sam Hamad.

“Anything for the good of the schools I’m in favor of,” said Hamad.

Meanwhile, the LRHS drafting curriculum has been taken over by Solidworks, a 3D model program which gives students the opportunity to be certified specifically by the 3D printer program. Certified students can then enter a wide range of competitions sponsored by the TSA (Technology Student Association), including robotics, design, and architecture.
