(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Mustangs girls soccer team is district champs for the fifth consecutive year. They have maintained their unbeaten status going into the regional semifinals where they beat Naples Gulf Coast.
“It was a close game, but we pulled through and are still undefeated,” said Senior Julianna Guida.
The Lady Mustangs will go on to the Regional Finals Tuesday at home against Riverdale High School.
“We have won district all my four years and it’s bittersweet because this will be my last year,” said Senior Alex Latham.
Seniors Latham, Guida, and Delaney Riggins have been district champs all four years of their Highschool career.
“It’s sad to be our last season, but I am so happy with this team’s accomplishments,” said senior Lindsay Martinez.
Last week’s regional semifinal was close as the Mustangs scraped out a 1-0 victory. The Lady Mustangs say they have a hard game ahead of them. Riverdale also beat Naples Gulf Coast in regular season.
“It was a hard game, Naples was the toughest team we have played. I am really excited for Riverdale because I think our team is ready,” said Senior Bri Reda
The Lady Mustangs will compete for their second consecutive Regional title 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 28 at LRHS.
