(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Several LRHS students are preparing for one of the more unusual sporting events scheduled for Sarasota’s Benderson Park. The Run-or-Dye Color Run will have no winners or prizes, but the runners get showered with safe, eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye every kilometer.
Runners can register as teams or individuals. VIP registration closes January 20. VIPs get a bag full of extra merchandise that only certain runners get. All the money raised during the marathon will be donated to The Global Poverty Project. Color runs have donated more than $1 million to various charities since 2012. The run comes to Sarasota March 22.
Everyone and anyone can participate in this color run.
LRHS Sophomore Sofia Lanza says, “I always see pictures of people covered in paint running a marathon, and it always looks like so much fun. I can’t wait for the Run Or Dye marathon to start.”
Junior Natalie Colwell says, “I hate running, but I would love to do a color run.”
Running in a color run gives people the opportunity to enjoy hanging out with friends while being active. Runners can come dressed in a crazy costume or in neon colors. For more information visit the Run Or Dye website.
