(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Some of LRHS Economics teacher Vito Bavaro’s students already have extra credit heading into exam week because they traded their thinking caps for chef hats before the holiday break and participated in his annual “Foods from around the world” project.
The assignment consisted of students choosing a certain food from an assigned country, creating a powerpoint presentation, then preparing the food for a panel of judges. The presentations included the food’s ingredients, history, and three restaurants in the country that sell the specific food being discussed. The idea of the project was to educate students on the cost and labor put into making food.
Judge and LRHS PE teacher Tina Hadley said, “The food was great and I think that the project provides a great learning experience for the students.”
The top three teams from each of Bavaro’s five class periods were awarded extra credit.
