(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This week is once again a prime example of Florida’s wacky weather pattern.

Coming back from break LRHS students wore coats and boots in response to the unseasonable temperature of 40 degrees (weather.com) though it felt like 30 degrees due to windchill. Although students were shivering on the way to class, by Friday the high will be 82 according to weather.com.
“The walk into school this morning was rough. I wouldn’t mind the cold if I actually had clothes that would keep me warm,” said junior Colette Winkler.
The repeated fluctuating of temperatures in winter is just something all Floridians must live with and why they must plan day-by-day. Just two days before these low temperatures it was beach weather but in just 48 hours it’s long sleeves and turtle neck weather.
“The cold weather is definitely a surprise. It’s crazy how much the weather changes,” said junior Kalei Vicars.
The winter seems to be the more fickle season in Florida with the summer and spring being at least 80 degrees with high humidity. The fall is characterized with cool mornings and stifling afternoons. The winter is the unpredictable season and while the northern United States stays bundled in layers and layers of clothes, Floridians just wait out the cold.
The best way to describe Florida’s weather is to say it’s erratic. It’s unpredictability leaves LRHS students guessing what they should wear.
