Lady Mustangs’ soccer shoots for success

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The 2013-14 LRHS girls soccer team season has kicked off.

Last year, the Lady Mustangs finished 18-2-4. Since the Lady Mustang team has been a 4a District powerhouse in the past, they should be a threat to win the district this season.

So far this season, the team has three wins and one tie. Two of their wins were against Sarasota High School and one against Riverview. Their tie was against district rival Braden River High school.

“We have a lot of seniors this year…so I am excited for this season,” said captain Julianna Guida, senior.

Coach Guy Virgilio has been coaching the LRHS Lady Mustangs since the school opened, and  will miss 20 days in November while visiting family in Italy.

“It will be difficult without our coach but our assistant coach will have to step up and take the head role while Coach Guy is gone,” said Senior Bri Reda.

The team will be in the hands of volunteer assistant coach Jim “Wojo” Wojicki. He started coaching at LRHS after his Rachel graduated. After being at all of his daughter’s games for the Mustangs he became the assistant coach.
