(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Social Studies Department welcomes back a familiar face. Matthew Farhat, a 2008 graduate, has returned to the Ranch.
Farhat is now teaching social studies, but started teaching last year as a long term substitute in physical science.
This will be his first full year at LRHS as well as his first full year teaching.
“I originally wanted to coach college football. But I knew I always had a passion for teaching/coaching and this fit the bill perfectly,” said Farhat.
A passion for football seems to run in the family. Farhat’s younger brother, Michael, was an LRHS football standout. Michael graduated last year and currently plays college football for the University of Charleston, the same school Matt played for.
Farhat has always had a passion for football and originally wanted to make coaching his profession. This passion for coaching is now equalled by teaching.
Farhat said he likes teaching because, “I enjoy the fact that I can still learn more about subjects that have always interested me.”
More than anything, he loves working at his alma mater.
“I hope to find my niche in life and make difference in the community as I grow as an individual and as a teacher,” said Farhat.
